And lo! I have finished one love sock! I took a pic of it that I’ll post once I fetch my phone from home, but here’s one that you might find more surprising:
Yes, it’s the SECOND love sock in progress! I’m so very proud that Second Sock Syndrome didn’t claim another victim on my account. Not only did I cast on and work on Love Sock Part Deux but also cast on the Top Secret Knitting Project and did a couple inches on that. All this productivity allowed a little slip to happen on Saturday…
Joe was at Limerock this weekend watching races and going fishin’ with the menfolk from work so I was left to my own devices here in Verona. As I said before, I’d been very productive where the love socks were concerned so I went to AC Moore which I figured would be less dangerous than Stix -n- Stitches with all its beautiful yarn that has to come home with me (ask Patty Way about my evil laugh whilst I was handing over my check card for $100 worth of so-called “sale yarn”). All I needed was a set of 5 size six double pointed needles and buttons for Hadley’s sweater.
Famous last words. A full set of Susan Bates Crystalites straight needles was on clearance — I had never really wanted them before but they were so cheap…and fun! There was also a tidy little carrying case made just for them – a must, obviously. I then noticed that a set of Susan Bates crochet hooks in bright colors was also on clearance. I blacked out right about then. All I can tell you is that when I got home I had spent a LOT of money and I was now the owner of:
- The Crystallites needles and case
- The crochet hooks
- 2 sets of 4 small needle point protectors
- a needle gauge
- 6 buttons
- an end weaver
- a tin sign
- a set of 5 size 7 DPNs because they didn’t have 6s
- 3 spools of ribbon
There may have been other items but I’ve hidden them from myself or blocked it out. AC Moore is now on the banned list.
Just as a bit of additional knitting porn, I bought Lion Brand, pink DPNs in plastic. I have never used plastic needles and was unhappy about having to go this way, but, I must say that they have been very pleasant to use. The slip is good and the flexibility is a plus. Not a bad deal.
I’m running home to fetch my cell now. More to come!
